Who Am I?
Hello, I am Saige Swedin! I am a mom, wife, educator, traveler galore, adventurer to the max, and enthusiast. I am the creator of Drive and Discover with a solid passion for travel and education. I am first a wife to my husband Tony, who encourages me daily to build Drive and Discover and share my passion with all. I then am a mother to four very stinky, smart, and kind boys. I grew up in Midland, Texas, and went to school in Lubbock at Texas Tech and then graduated from Texas State University. I have a degree in Mass Communications and a minor in English. I have worked in the oil industry, but after adopting my two older boys from Kazakhstan, I decided that teaching was my passion. I became certified in Texas and worked in many teaching capacities over the years. I have taught grades 4-8, pretty much all subjects, primarily special education, and even a bit of coaching in girls’ sports. About two years ago, I decided to stay home and be a mom and wife, although I was not home-schooling until Covid-19. After we entered the virtual realm of school and began traveling after quarantine, I realized there was a way to combine school and travel. From then on, I decided to find a way to make sure any person, or people, who wanted to hit the road, try something new, go somewhere stress-free, AND learn along the way, was going to get that opportunity!
Who Am I NOT?
However, I am NOT a Ph.D in all subject areas. I am not a historian, geologist, meteorologist, environmentalist, park ranger, etc. I have attempted to research and explore all the information available, and I believe it to be factual. I attempt to take big, broad subjects and make them more concise for the region and you, the traveler. I have provided these topics and lessons with the hopes that trip leaders can expand and use their knowledge on each subject and continue to research the inspiring subjects.
If you find a mistake or something you believe to be untrue, please message me, I will look into it and continue my research.
